HarborFest
Celebrate the local heritage of Destin with this annual event scheduled this year for October 1-3. Enjoy fresh seafood, artisans, live music and fireworks (Saturday night at 9 p.m.) on Destin Harbor. Enjoy great food, music and lots of fun! Go to this link for more information. Also at the open-air HarborWalk Village venue in October: The Rocktober Concert Series and Half Shells on the Harbor, featuring fresh oyster tastings and the creativity of local chefs. Jeepalooza on the Island
Bring yourself, your family and your Jeep(s) to this fun event in Destin October 7-10. Don’t own one but love Jeeps? You’re still invited! The event features Jeep exhibitions, vendors, music and Jeep-related fun. Don’t miss this opportunity to show off your Jeep, meet other Jeep owners, find your first (or next) Jeep and/or find new accessories for your vehicle.
Baytowne Wharf Beer Fest
Like beer and live music? You’ll love this event at the Sandestin Golf & Beach Resort. The 13th Annual Baytowne Wharf Beer Fest on October 8 and 9 will feature more than 200 domestic and international craft beers available for sampling. Brewery representatives will be on hand to answer questions about the different varieties of lagers and ales from a variety of styles. The popular Beer From Around Here event is held the first night of the festival and highlights local breweries, craft beer culture and dishes created to pair with the beer. It’s truly a beer lover’s paradise!
Destin Fishing Rodeo
Anglers love this fall event! Destin’s annual fishing tournament runs throughout October and is the area’s longest-running annual event, in its 73rd year. It features not only anglers from the area and state but throughout the United States who travel to Destin for this month-long competition. Whether or not you participate, it’s fun to see all of the big fish and friendly competition this event is sure to reel in.
Emerald Coast Bike Fest
You’ll see — and hear — hundreds of Harleys and other types of motorcycles all weekend long, October 20-24 at Fort Walton Beach. The event also features food/drinks and vendors. If you love Harleys, you won’t want to miss this fun event.
In the mood to relax, read a good book or do absolutely nothing? The Destin area has a lot of places to do that, too! How about a sunset cruise with dolphins swimming around the boat? You can, of course, enjoy beaches with white sand and emerald blue water. There’s a wide range of great restaurants, walking/hiking trails and quiet places to reconnect with nature and see an incredible array of animals. It’s definitely an area that requires a stay of more than just a few days/nights.
